In order to assist us further in providing Legal Advice in the Community, we are delighted to announce that we are now able to offer Legal Aid for all aspects of Family Law including Social Services intervention from the Corby Office.

Legal Aid is changing. After April 2013 in most cases, public funding (Legal Aid) will not be available for divorce, financial matters and private law children cases such as residence and contact applications. Through legislation in the Legal Aid, the Government is to remove a lot of legal advice from the Legal Aid scope.
Legal Aid will still be available for some family law cases including in cases where Social Services are involved in care proceedings, and also for domestic violence cases.
However to obtain Legal Aid for divorce, financial or children cases there will be a "gateway" to pass through, having to prove either domestic abuse or child abuse. The precise detail of the criteria for domestic or child abuse to be met is as yet unclear. However, as things stand it will only be the "victim" or the parent seeking to protect...
